Great Cart capture Privacy Policy
Effective date: 14 October 2026 | Last updated: 14 October 2026
Great Cart capture is a Chrome extension for Convert Digital staff. It saves full-page screenshots of a website's core pages so they can be added to Great Cart, Convert's private library of ecommerce sites. This policy explains what the extension can access, what it does with that information, and what it does not do.
Great Cart capture is published by Thomas Ross, Melbourne, Australia ("we", "us", "our"), for use inside Convert Digital. If you have any questions about this policy, contact tom@convertdigital.com.au.
The short version
The extension only captures a page when you ask it to. Screenshots stay in your browser until you choose to send them to Great Cart, Convert's own private app. There is no analytics, no tracking and no advertising, and nothing is sold or shared with third parties.
What the extension can access
- The page you choose to capture. When you start a capture, the extension scrolls the tab you are on, can temporarily hide fixed headers, cookie banners and chat bubbles you pick, and takes screenshots of the page. It records the page's address (without the query string) and title with each screenshot.
- Your local extension storage. It keeps your checklist progress, settings and captured screenshots on your computer.
The extension does nothing in the background. It does not read or monitor pages you have not chosen to capture.
Pages with personal information
The extension is meant for public shop pages only. Before each capture it checks the page for signs of personal information, such as an account or order page or filled-in name, contact or card fields, and warns you so you can cancel. Staff are instructed never to capture pages showing a person's own data.
Where screenshots go
- Screenshots are stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB) until you send or delete them.
- When you choose to send them, they go only to Great Cart, Convert's private app on Google Cloud in Australia, which only signed-in Convert staff can reach. Your Google sign-in for Great Cart is used to know who sent each capture.
- They are never sent to us personally or to any third party.
What the extension does not do
- It does not use analytics, tracking pixels, fingerprinting or advertising.
- It does not sell or share any data.
- It does not ask for passwords.
- It does not load remote code.
Permissions we request, and why
- activeTab and scripting: to capture the tab you are on, only after you start a capture.
- sidePanel: to show the capture checklist in the browser side panel.
- storage: to keep your progress, settings and captures on your computer.
- Optional host access: asked for only if you allow it, so the extension can capture several pages of the site you are walking and reach your Great Cart address.
Compliance with the Chrome Web Store Limited Use policy
Our use of information accessed through Great Cart capture complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Page content is used only to make the screenshots you ask for and to add them to Great Cart. It is not transferred to third parties, used for advertising, or used for any purpose unrelated to the extension's single function.
Removing your data
Captures and settings stored in the extension are removed when you clear them in the extension, clear your browser data, or uninstall it. Screenshots already sent to Great Cart can be removed by a Great Cart editor.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the extension handles information, we will update this policy and the "Last updated" date before the matching version of the extension is published.
